In a business, if the Return on Investment is not justifiable, it would simply make no sense to initiate / carry on with the plan anymore; it's bound to lose.

This could be translated into stuff we invest our time into daily. Are you getting back the expected interest? Are you being appreciated? Or are you just a filler role to cover up a gap someone failed to provide?

but then again. some things are uncontrollable.
